OUR WORK

From Historical Evidence to Preservation Planning

Nevadaville’s history survives in archival collections, photographs, maps, buildings, foundations, mining features and community knowledge. NHF’s initial work is to bring those sources together into a reliable historical record that can inform responsible preservation planning and public interpretation.

CURRENT PRIORITIES

Our Initial Areas of Work

The work begins with historical evidence and builds toward a practical preservation plan. Field activities will take place only where appropriate access and permissions are in place.

Archival Research

Locate and organize historic photographs, maps, newspapers and archival records. Preserve source information so findings can be verified and used in future historical studies.

Resource Documentation

Develop a consistent record of surviving buildings, foundations, streetscapes and mining-related features. Photography, mapping and field observations will be completed where appropriate permissions are in place.

Preservation Planning

Bring the research and documentation together to identify preservation priorities, questions requiring professional evaluation and opportunities to share Nevadaville’s history with the public.

Current Project Status

Following acceptance of its letter of intent, NHF is preparing a competitive application to Colorado’s State Historical Fund. Grant funding has not been awarded, and proposed activities remain subject to funding, permissions and applicable approvals.

Preserve, document, interpret and share Nevadaville’s historic resources and stories for public benefit.
